What is WiFi Calling? How to do call without mobile network - able2knowledge.blogspot.com

https://able2knowledge.blogspot.com/2020/03/what-is-wifi-calling-how-to-do-call.html

Friends, if someone tells you that WiFi calling is possible even without mobile network, then you will not believe it once.  Yes, this is possible through WiFi Calling.  Today, we will talk about the same topic, what is WiFi Calling and how is a network call.

Since the launch of the mobile service till date, all the mobile telecom companies have been claiming that their company is the best in terms of network and claims to give end to end coverage.  But the truth is quite the opposite.  Call drop problem or network problem, these things have become common in today's era.

In order to get rid of all these problems and to provide the facility of WiFi calling in limited area, Wifi calling technology is being worked out which will reduce the extra burden on the mobile companies network and the users will also get the benefit of excellent calling.  Do you know what it is….

What is WiFi Calling?

Wifi calling is a revolutionary change in the mobile world.  It provides wifi calling as well as providing a strong network.  Wifi calling is also technically called Voice Over Wi-Fi (VoWifi).  You will be surprised to know that when this service was invented, then it was known as GAN i.e. Generic Mobile Access Network.

Its commercial name is UMA i.e. Unlicensed Mobile Access.  This technology works on IMS / SIP i.e. IP Media Subsystem / Session Initiation Protocol which improves Mobile Voice Service and Multimedia Service.  IEEE 802.11 wireless network technology is used for this service.

In this, the WifI Network is used during calling.  While simple 2G, 3G or 4G VLTe calling only transfers the call over mobile network, Vo-WiFi has mobile network in mobile network as well as using Wi-Fi in your home, office or any other place to which your phone is connected.  Happens, here it means to say that along with the mobile network, both types of networks are used.

Wifi calling is called UMA.  UMA is always associated with Dual Mode GSM / WiFi.  In this case, Wifi calling is possible only in those phones which have UMA based IEEE 802.11 wireless network ie WiFi support.  The advantage of this is that if you are in Wi-Fi Zone and you have Wi-Fi enabled then this service will work.  As soon as you go outside the wifi zone, your calling will be connected to GSM or mobile network.

How Wi-Fi Calling Started

By the way, this technology was started in the year 2005 only by BT Fusion, a UK company which Motorola did.  But at that time "Motorola" used Bluetooth instead of wi-fi for this technology.  In August 2006, Wifi UMA based service was launched by service provider telecom company "Teliasonera" in Denmark.

This service was named "Free Home".  And it became known as the first Wi-Fi Calling service.  Bluetooth-based service was discontinued from here.  After this, in September 2006, Orange launched it as a unique service, also known as "Signal Boost".

When Wifi Calling started in 2007, big brands like Nokiya, Samsung, Motorola introduced their phones.  They had UAE based 802.11 wireless network support.  After this, this service was gradually introduced in many countries of the world.  By 2015, big names like "AT&T" and "Verizon" were added to it.

As for India, Airtel started it from Delhi NCR on 10 December 2019.  A few days later, Jio also launched its Wifi Calling.  However, when Airtel started its wifi calling service, this service worked only on Airtel's WiFi.

After this, Airtel changed its service and now the benefit of this service can be taken with any WiFi network.  At the same time, Jio's WiFi calling service is able to connect on all the WiFi networks from the day of launch.

How does WiFi Calling work?

WiFi calling may have been launched globally but it is not available in all phones right now.  Right now the benefit of this service can be taken only in those phones which have this service support.  Your phone must be connected to WiFi to use this service.  After this you will have to turn on Wifi Calling by going to the phone's settings.  If your phone is a dual sim, then enable the WiFi calling in the Sim which has an Airtel or Jio SIM.  With this, WiFi calling will be turned on.

Benefits of wifi calling

This service is beneficial for those people who used to go out and talk because of the weak network at home.  Now, with the help of Wifi calling in Low Network Zone or No Network Zone, there will be clear talk.  Wherever there is no mobile network inside the home or office, if there is wifi service available, then you will be able to enjoy the wifi calling service easily.  You will not have any kind of problem.

 Is Wifi Calling Free?

Many of you may think that Wifi calling will be free but this is not the case at all.  In simple words, wifi calling is not free at all.  In this, the normal calling tariff which will be active on your Sim Number will be charged accordingly.  In this, the wifi calling becomes strong.  And in such a situation, you will enjoy better calling in every corner of the house and in the basement.
